Greenlake Whole-Home Renewal and Addition
Growing Up in the Neighborhood They Love
This family bought their one bedroom, one bath home as a young couple, before they had children, and the house has grown right along with them. Pathway first finished the basement to add two kids' bedrooms and a laundry room. When a third child came along, they faced a choice: expand or move. They loved their neighborhood, schools and friends nearby, so they chose to stay.
We added a full second story with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and the home's first primary suite. One of the kids' rooms was made larger, with space for bunk beds and extra storage.
A Main Floor Made for Everyday Life
Making room for the new stairs gave us the chance to open the enclosed kitchen to the dining and living areas, so whoever is cooking can stay part of the action. We reused the existing cabinets and added quartz countertops and an island for cooking, gathering and homework. The space under the stairs became a play nook, and flooring removed during the remodel was turned into the pantry's sliding barn door.
A View We Found Along the Way
Before the remodel, the living room had no view of the backyard at all. Once demolition began, we saw that opening the main floor could create a sightline from the front entry straight through to the yard. It's a great reminder that as a house opens up, new possibilities come to light, and acting on them can change how a home feels.
Comfort Behind the Walls
Air sealing, wool insulation, cork flooring upstairs and carefully chosen finishes make the home more efficient, quieter and healthier. Mini split heating and an energy recovery ventilator keep it comfortable year round. We also worked closely with the engineer to support the addition on the existing foundation, protecting the basement we had already finished.
Today the family has the space they needed, without leaving the community they love.
