Primary Bathroom Remodel in Seattle Condo 

This project marked the homeowners’ second collaboration with our team, focusing on the transformation of their primary bathroom into a serene, spa-like retreat that harmonized with the updated aesthetic of their condo. The remodel aimed to elevate both the functionality and ambiance of the space, delivering a refined experience that reflected the homeowners’ vision.

Challenges:
The project presented a series of complex challenges that required creative problem-solving and precise execution. Tub installation was particularly demanding due to limited manufacturer support and unclear specifications. Condo regulations mandated a fixed drain location, restricting layout flexibility, while a narrow 4-inch cavity for plumbing and tile work added further constraints. The tub’s placement also impacted access to built-in niche storage, requiring design adjustments.

During mirror and cabinet installation, unexpected plumbing vent lines were discovered behind the wall, prompting a redesign of the cabinetry layout. Additionally, the selected smart lighting system was incompatible with the medicine cabinets, necessitating alternative solutions to preserve both functionality and aesthetic goals.

Tile installation was complicated by the use of wavy tiles and the absence of detailed plans, which led to numerous on-site decisions. The tub’s final position influenced the tile layout and niche placement, adding another layer of complexity to the installation process.

Solutions:
To overcome these challenges, the team implemented a series of thoughtful and innovative solutions. A heated towel bar was recessed into the wall to conserve space while enhancing comfort, and a toe-kick heater was added for supplemental warmth. A pocket door replaced the traditional swing door to improve flow and maximize usable space. The lighting design featured a Lutron system with LED color-changing capabilities, allowing for customizable ambiance. Recessed medicine cabinets with built-in outlets were selected to reduce countertop clutter and accommodate modern electrical needs, contributing to a sleek and efficient design.

Results:
The completed remodel exceeded expectations, delivering a tranquil and luxurious bathroom that seamlessly integrates style and practicality. The strategic use of lighting and space-saving features created a calming environment, while the high level of craftsmanship ensured durability and elegance. Despite the technical hurdles, the project stands as a testament to the team’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction.
