Sustainability & Compassion

At the core of our business, we are more than a design + build company.

Along with the honor of building and shaping people’s homes, we recognize that we have the responsibility to protect our planet and future generations. We view our role in the industry as being an integral part of the thriving, environmentally conscious community of Western Washington.

As Seattle's first BIAW Certified Builder™, creating healthy, sustainable and energy-efficient homes has been our focus from the start. Using sustainable, recyclable products for our clients projects ensures that we are material efficient and promotes a circular economy: a framework that reduces waste, encourages reuse, and recycles as much as possible.

We believe that it is our responsibility to be stewards of the environment, and we are committed to working together to create a more sustainable future. This is why, in addition to employing sustainable practices throughout our business, we also support initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Our focus on compassion

sees us donating to deserving organizations such as REDD+. REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) is an international effort to use market-based mechanisms to finance forest conservation. The program was launched for the Coalition for Rainforest Nations in order to help developing countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

REDD+, a framework created by the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), goes a step further in supporting the protection and sustainable management of forests. While prolific in its effects, the concept is simple: every $16 buys one ton of reduced carbon emissions and preserves two rainforest trees. Therefore our projects each receive multiple donations based on the size of the remodel to offset carbon emissions. Countries such as Papua New Guinea, Belize, Honduras, Gabon, and Ghana are working with REDD+ to finance conservation and sustainable management of their forests. As a conscious company with a commitment to global transformation, we recognize the importance of this program in developing countries and are proud to support it with our clients' help.

As we constantly explore new ways to operate more sustainably and with compassion, we encourage our team members to think about how their actions and our practices impact not just our clients, but also the planet. We empower our company members with the knowledge and resources they need to make compassionate choices when it comes to the products we use and the partners we work with.

We strive to be a leader in sustainable development

We work to create positive social and environmental change. Our team is dedicated to finding new ways to reduce our and our clients' ecological footprints, while still providing homes of unmatched quality that stand as a part of their natural environment instead of working against it. We believe in fair and ethical working conditions both in our company and throughout our supply chain.

We are proud to be a part of the sustainable building movement, and we remain dedicated to innovating new ways to create homes that work with, not against, the natural world.

Thank you for considering Pathway as your partner in creating a more sustainable, compassionate future.
